This policy covers what Unreal Directive collects, why, and what you can do about it. Got questions? Use the contact page.
Who we are
Unreal Directive is a resource site for Unreal Engine developers, run by Dylan "Tezenari" Amos. The site has articles, tips, community-submitted resources, and reference tools like the console variable database and keyboard shortcut list.
What we collect
Contact and issue reports
The contact form asks for your name, email, and message. Issue reports ask for a page URL and description. Both get emailed to us through Resend. Nothing is saved in a database.
Server logs
Vercel, our hosting provider, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited). We do not run any analytics on top of that.
Cookies
We only set cookies to keep the site working. No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, no third-party analytics scripts.
Third-party services
The site uses a few external services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Vercel – hosting and edge network
- Resend – sends emails from the contact and issue report forms
- Mux – streams video on tips and keyboard shortcut pages
Fonts (Outfit) are self-hosted at build time using Next.js, so no requests go to Google when you load a page.
How we use your information
Contact form data is used to reply to you. That is the extent of it.
We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. The services listed above only receive what they need to do their job.
What is public
All articles, tips, resources, developer profiles, and updates on this site are public. They show up in RSS feeds and search engines. No visitor data is made public.
Data retention
Server logs follow Vercel's retention schedule. Contact form messages and issue reports stay in our email inbox until we delete them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask what data we hold about you, request corrections, or ask us to delete it.
There are no user accounts on this site. The only personal data we might have is from contact form submissions. Use the contact form for any data requests.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has submitted personal data through one of our forms, let us know and we will delete it.
Do Not Track
There are no analytics or advertising scripts on this site, so Do Not Track signals are already honored by default.
AI and automated access
Some AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and others) are allowed to read public content. Our llms.txt and robots.txt files define what they can access. No user data is exposed to them.
Security
All traffic goes over HTTPS. Nobody can guarantee perfect security, but we are not cutting corners.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the date at the top gets updated. The current version always lives at this URL.
